10 Miles (16.09344 Kilometres) to Safety is an isometric top-down action shooter throughout the day and a strategy defence game during the night. In this apocalyptic indie game by Trickjump Games you need to make it 10 miles to safety (the title, duh), which is to an Army Base, through procedurally generated surroundings full of zombies, which are here named The Infected.

You start the game with one of five characters, all of which have different abilities and advantages that will lead to different styles of progressing through your game. The Brawler has more health and his melee attacks deal more damage, The Engineer’s building is faster, costs less and the objects built are stronger, The Crafter crafts faster with less materials and her crafted items are more powerful, The Looter loots faster, finds more materials and spawns less zombies, and finally The Sharpshooter has increased headshot chance and sniper rifles deal more damage. !̵̦͔͂͆̔7̴̖̝̙̽%̸̡̂Ą̶̱̺͋)̶̬̓$̷̜̺̝̏̈͊ȉ̶̤Q̶̠̭̓͠4̷̢͓̹͌̒n̴͖̭̓̍́x̵͕͂͋g̴̨͊̅l̶̦͕̥͑Y̵̳̤̎̕Ẅ̶͚̤́͝5̴̗͕́K̵̬̤̠͂̋̚4̸̙̰̠̆&̷̦̾͒X̵̟̽B̷̗͙̅̔͜$̶͎̉ş̷̥̌͑͜v̸̙̞̘̑̋z̵̺͇̱͂5̷̧̩̂̏͌A̸̯̅̆s̶̨̺͎̉̑͝9̵̦̐̒t̸͓̙̪͝/̶͕̎H̷̭̫͖͛3̷̙̙͚͆Ẅ̵͔́A̸͔͐g̴̱͘͝B̵͚̆M̸̼͆Y̷̻̅̏̓7̵͕͗͗%̴͜͠Q̶̥̤̺́D̴͇̞̪̿͘͠7̶̮̂̈͝ȇ̵͓̈͜͜D̶͙̪͊u̴̢̙͗̈i̶̞̥̅W̷͈̒͝!̸͙͖̈́̀̑K̶͕̠͛ͅ6̷̬̞͓͊Ȧ̶̙̝̱Q̷͍͗j̶̘̮̃̕͝r̶̗̈́̆ͅi̷̹͒͒̚$̵̧̈́5̸̜̋̾̔p̷̹͐a̶̮̣͐́͝(̷͚̮͆m̶͔͈̪͆d̴̢̹̮͌d̸̪̟̲̍̑͌u̷͓̮̒ͅq̶̲̼̎͋̕t̷̳̐?̴͂ͅs̸̛̼͔̀͑c̷͎̈́ͅḏ̷͂̋̕/̵̝̳̕ͅ1̸͉͛̍͠$̴͚̋o̶͔͌P̸͎̳̃u̷̝͖̇̆̉?̶͈̝͆Ų̸͐?̴̳̔̍

Leading you to the Army Base will be a compass, which tells you how far away safety is and in which direction you need to head. The Outbreak Level shows you the current state of the infection, the higher it is, the more dangerous is the threat around you. As already written, during the daytime you must shoot your way through the infected to find your way to loot weapons, blueprints, gear, and crafting recipes, which will all come useful during nights, when you have to fend off against the creatures to survive and live another day. As you move closer to safety, the infected evolve and become move dangerous, but on the other hand you also find more powerful weapons and items that will help you survive the nights. ¨̸̧͚͐&̸̲̠̏̊̀N̶̘̰̪̂̿́$̶͔͂͒̇0̴̺̇4̵̘͖̘̅͝R̵̜̥̋̕0̴̥̎r̶̠̟̅̊H̶̗̹͖̒8̴̪̾ẗ̶̘́)̵̼̋͒͛Í̸̹͜͜͠C̷͉̍̈́͝!̵̖̔̈̈́ͅT̴͙̓̃Z̴̘̒͊0̷̫̤́v̶͇̮̤̂̂̌!̶̻͈̎̽Ṡ̴̱̣3̴̟͎̌͆1̴̨̀͊t̴͓͈̼͛͠H̶̳̱̓ÿ̴̡̦̫́̾2̷̨̈̀͝≠̜͋C̴̻͒̑͠K̴̩̯̹͝$̴̰̑͘G̶̢̩̹͑͝ć̶̘̋͜/̴̪̅͠y̵̨̭̹͋̿͠/̵͔̟̰͌̉$̵̟̺͛͂ͅ3̴̣͐̔͝n̸̝͍͠q̷̻͊̂r̸̮̗̈̒R̴̜̹͝p̴̞̪̌f̷̯̦̅̾j̸̢̽̇̕?̷̖̌(̴̛͉̮̼t̴͉̦̺̃͝͝F̴̭̓̈́̎͜a̷̰͒͠i̶̟͑̍̽r̶̘̄$̶̖̏S̸̱̹͖̚Ḛ̵̆ḛ̶̻̌́͆8̴̗̀͘2̶̙͚̚%̷͔̮̋X̶̧͓̻͆̄̋5̴̫̃̾X̸͇͕̣̆̏̾i̶̹̿̓̊Ơ̵͙͋m̴̥̰͍͊y̸̺͆̑9̴̨̬̄̿̕!̴̱̺̼́͝k̶͓̜̒̌͝Ȟ̸̪̮͉̂F̵̧͓͈̆R̵͓̘̼͘V̶̝͊Y̵̟̦̅̆́#̷͙͎̰͠ž̵͕ͅͅ$̶̫̳͒̃͠d̵̛̖͗e̴̡͂̈́̏B̴͚̟̖͗V̷̯̙͗͝

Those vary from assault rifles, sniper rifles and pump-action shotguns, to baseball bats, katanas and flamethrowers.

As if trying to survive for yourself was not difficult enough, next to that you will also endure special tasks and missions (for example Protect Medics) in which you will need to save other survivors and kill the marked infected, which will grant you bonus gear and some even AI partners which will help you in your battles. 10 Miles to Safety also offers drop-in online co-operative experience for up to four players simultaneously. 6̵̩̓̾D̶̞̯̔̈́̓ï̶̾ͅ$̸̧͖̝͗͛͠$̸̺̄̅ͅ3̶̺̈́́q̶̣̼̀è̷͎̻̹̈́ȉ̶͙T̶͙̫̝̿͐͝ì̶͇͚M̷̧̌͠f̷̯̒x̸̪̲͘q̷̱̪̗̒͌̃Ĩ̸̧͔͓͘V̸̢̞̮͋F̴̼̏͝#̵͉̔͝4̵̡͕̮̔̈́3̸̤̚w̸̬̹̟͗̋̕F̶̯͉͈̐̌Ĩ̷̪̲͚̑X̷̹̅͠Z̸̝͒̀)̵̧̞̠̌́͗F̷̩̩͑̒̓P̴̗͝ͅj̷͕͔͂͝n̸̨̦̣͂b̴͚̲̌͐͝Ḍ̵̬̉*̸̡̛̱̯̇ï̷̖̖͐̿Ȳ̸͓̄̕J̸̗̈́8̸̠̕7̵̝̫̪̊V̸̛͔̦̺̈g̷̜͗Ṕ̸̨͙̻͝͝j̸̡̲̗͛̋͋Ź̶̝̒̕͜W̸͓̼͍̍̎̏J̸̥̳̭̄̀e̵͎̳̓͠s̵̛̳͔̀s̴̟̭͈͊͆͠Ä̸̛̦̝́́A̸̳̦͛̔q̶̨̬͠?̸̻͇̀̚͜ṉ̸̻͓̇͊̈6̶̡̹̜́̈́͛0̷̳̦͘c̶̹͆W̸̬̮͛̊̒1̵̗͘l̴͚̣̖͗̃̿c̵̜̱͙̔?̵̩̮͂ŕ̷̟̼3̶̥̻͉͑#̵̛̼͇̃́Y̶͓͙̅͊¨̵̛̬L̶͖͛Z̴̢̥̹͝Z̴͉͔̱̈́̈K̴̙̾?̴̥̟̃̿z̸̲̊P̴̬̺̌e̸̮̎W̸̞̤̺̓͝͝6̴̱̙̐Ů̴̲̻̅!̷͕̟̲̊͗Ḥ̵̅͘͝N̷͚͍̒C̶̩͔͒̅̏L̶̥̣̒͌ȯ̴̢͎̾̈́”̵̭̘̒̆͜o̴̪͝g̷͈̣̉̾j̷͔̄b̶̟̾$̶̡̣̔

The more people will be in your party, the more dangerous the world will become, though. Be aware!

By the world being procedurally generated, none of your runs will be the same, which adds a lot to the replayability of the game. 10 Miles to Safety is simple to learn, but hard to master, especially at night time at higher outbreak levels. There is already plenty things packed inside the game itself, but it being in Early Access I can only assume they plan on polishing the gameplay and adding even more stuff to it. It will only get better, so make sure you get it as soon as possible to be able to follow the final developments. 10 Miles to Safety really is worth its money, especially if you are into strategic top-down shooters.

Facts and figures:

Sounds – 7/10
A mellow background track that changes to an upbeat one when you are being attacked during the nights, sounds of your weapons, and grunting of The Infected. Nothing over the top, but you also do not need it.

Graphics – 9/10
Outstanding cartoony top-down graphics with a lot of attention to details. The blood splatters are cool, I only wish they and the dead would not evaporate to the ground.

Gameplay – 9/10
A fun top-down shooter and item looter during the daytime, and a strategic tower defence battler during nights. %̸̤͒̊̋P̴̞͑̀Z̷̯̹̔G̸̙̋̿?̸̼̓̚S̶̗͒2̸̝̞̻̍̓Ạ̵̓͠o̸̢͍͆́K̷͉̘͗̄0̸̠̕k̵͖͆$̴̤̙̟̉̈̏B̶̗̭͔͊È̵̻͈̚&̶̣͊̆O̷̪̙͆̀T̴̲̎F̷͚̘͌̓Ṕ̴̺̤̾ͅ1̵͖͇̋̅X̷̥͌͑́6̴̧̢̃8̸͖̭͆̅́t̴̢͊͆̏ Without any major glitches and fun for everyone who is into the genre.

Replay value – 8/10
Procedurally generated worlds will differ with each game run, but they can get a bit repetitive in those long 10 miles.

Overall – 8/10
You need to check 10 Miles to Safety out if you are into survival top-down action games. t̴͙͍̃̇U̴̲͓͒̌M̶̡͉̏͜x̵̟͇̘̆̂(̶̱̽̋ͅ&̴̠̪́͆̕2̶̭̮́͐9̴͙͈͖̅́)̸̖͔̈̊̃0̴̰̍̌̿͜a̵͈̾̑M̸̺̳̌̍͝%̵̱͈̞̈́̽ẗ̴̵̘̥̣́̄͘Ẃ̵̭̭̉ḳ̴̴̞̞̦̔̉̈́m̵͙̖̐̒7̵̪͗̈́̇Q̵̱̭̀͜M̸̞͉͖͋̿̊G̷̳͒̐̈́k̸̝̙̼̊̍T̸͖̻̈ It is already worth its money in Early Access.
