As someone who has never really played fishing simulators in the sports genre, The Catch: Carp & Coarse comes as a pleasant surprise.
The first thing that caught my eye once I booted up the game are the amazing visuals of the game. You can see the amount of details the developers put into the visuals of the game, from the effects of the water to all the different fish in the game and even the lighting was well-done as well.
There are many different modes in the game, catering to the different needs of different gamers. Some people just want to hop into the game and get right into action without caring too much about the specific events that happen in the game. For that, there is the Fishing Trip mode which allows you to choose the location and the fish you want to catch. There is also a multiplayer mode that allows you to compete with up to three other different players, with the victor decided based on the amount of fish caught and the weight of the fish. Lastly, there is also an Online League mode for you to fight your way up the leaderboard.
Playing the game allows you to gain levels and Tackle Points which is basically the currency in the game. Tackle Points allow you to buy a myriad of different lines, rods and baits that allow you to take your fishing career further. /̸̡̍̎̎û̷̹̞͑̏ṉ̶̊͘e̸̫̲̋8̵̛̞̜̔͆v̴̠̖̎͝$̵̝̆͐̏X̵̧̝̐̚$̴̠̯͗x̵̧̾̈́͘j̶̯̃̈Ỳ̴͖͑F̴̧̙̫̊̍̍Ẍ̸̮́̉͝G̴͉̹͂̒0̵͎̹̿̓ś̷͔͉͋ͅF̵̥͊́Ẇ̷̞̪̃c̸̖̈́̎̌*̶̫͓̰̿̿M̷͕̝̋̒̀4̷̠̈̈́̋J̶̢͌̅̆4̵̡̼̇ There are many rods and baits that allow you to tackle different situations in the game depending on your play style. The mechanics of catching a fish are quite intuitive even for someone new to this genre of games, you will have to watch the meter to see if you are pulling on the fish too hard and eventually the fish will be reeled in.
Overall, for the price of 25 USD, this game is truly a steal. It feels like an AAA game at a higher price with all the efforts made into the visuals and the depth of the game. Anyone who enjoys fishing simulator games should definitely give this game a try!
