Aerial_Knight’s Never Yield
Aerial_Knight’s Never Yield was developed by… yes, you guessed it – Aerial_Knight, and published by German Headup Games. It was released on the 19th of May 2021 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Survive a futuristic Tokyo style Detroit in this 3D runner that tells the story of Wally who has uncovered the evidence that can change his city forever. Explore a game world with a dope-tastic soundtrack featuring the authentic sounds of a Detroit artist.
In this Unity made sci-fi runner you will take on a role of Wally. He is set out to recover items from his past that were taken away from him, to save the upcoming future. It is a 3D side-scrolling platformer that plays like a classic runner – you will run, jump, slide and do acrobatic manoeuvrers to avoid obstacles and challenges that await you. The game is built for speedrunners, but it promises that casual players will enjoy it, too – available are three different difficulty modes, after you complete the prologue. It has a cyberpunk aesthetic, and the graphics look quite nice. The soundtrack, which was made by Danime-Sama is enjoyable as well, if you like hip hop music. Never Yield was developed by Neil Jones, better known as Aerial_Knight, with the help of some of his friends, and is split into thirteen levels. These levels are not the longest, and are filled with checkpoints, from which you can continue when you fail. It is a quite short experience, as it will take you about an hour and a half to complete, and the only replay value it has, is that you can try improving your high score by playing it again and failing less. If you are a fan of runners, I do recommend you to check it out, even if it will not take you too long to complete.
King of Seas
Developed by 3DClouds and published by Team17 on the 25th of May this year, King of Seas was released for PC via Steam and GOG, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo’s Switch. It is an action role playing game set in a procedural pirate world. An epic adventure awaits you in a fantastic world, dotted with fights, lost islands and treasures. A universe that will keep you anchored as you struggle to become the king of all pirates.
King of Seas’ story is told through a series of quests in which you will find different characters that will lead you on your path to becoming the… king of seas. Its world is dynamic and procedurally generated, so you will never play the same game twice, if you will wish to play it through more than once. As you will conquer the routes will also change, plus the game will become more challenging each time you will bring someone to their knees. You will literally explore the world as you will never be sure what lies ahead on your path towards your next objective. It is also very strategic since you will need to take control in battles and stay on top by choosing the right moves and adjust to the wind directions and deciding where to you will sail. In game there are five different ships that are very customizable. You will decide what equipment you will carry and adjust the skill system in ways that will make your experience tailored to your wishes. After all, it is an RPG we are talking about here. You will be able to decide your own combat playstyle as there exist 3 different branches of talents and more than twenty different skills to choose from. King of Seas also features secondary missions that will bring you additional bounties, treasure hunting the depths, trading, and our all-time favourite – fishing! There are thirty different fish that you are able to fish, depending on various weather circumstances. Taking everything into consideration, the game is fun and looks gorgeous, but be prepared to grind through battling ships and completing missions. If you always wanted to be a pirate, this is your least dangerous opportunity.
Announced as MudRunner 2 in August 2018, SnowRunner got released on the 28th of April last year for PC via Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Developed by Saber Interactive and published by Focus Home Interactive, it got released for PC via Steam and the Windows Store plus Nintendo Switch on the 18th May 2021. Get ready for the next-generation off-road experience! Drive powerful vehicles and overcome extreme open environments to complete dozens of challenging missions solo or with up to 3 friends!
SnowRunner is an off-road simulator video game that has the player drive off-road vehicles between locations and complete various objectives and missions. It is a sequel to 2017’s MudRunner and features forty different vehicles (real brands like Chevrolet, GMC and Ford) and more than fifteen sandbox landscapes. The landscapes are set after some disaster took place – a flood, for example. In this open world driving simulator your task is to deliver cargo to different places by off-road driving through tough terrains. In your missions, you will need to overcome snow, mud and frozen lakes, and by completing them you will earn money that can be spent for acquiring better vehicles, that will render your jobs easier. There are also different types of your vehicle’s customization, from the only cosmetic colour changes to serious tire changes and equipping chains to them that will make it easier for you to battle snow-covered terrains. SnowRunner can be played as a single-player experience, but there is also an option to play with up to three of your friends in an exciting co-operative experience. The game is a really hardcore simulator that is not easy to play at all and has a highly advanced physics engine. Vehicles and locations are incredibly detailed and the graphics look awesome. It also runs fluidly without any apparent glitches or game-breaking bugs to make your experience that much better. I have not played MudRunner so I cannot compare it to its prequel, but I can wholeheartedly recommend SnowRunner to everyone who looks for a challenging off-road truck simulator.
The game was developed by Nerd Games and Kiddo Dev, and ported & published by eastasiasoft. 0 Degrees was made available on the 19th of May for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. A snow-covered wonderland of platforming action awaits in 0 Degrees, a chill puzzle experience for players of any age or skill level! Take control of a bundled-up pixel art climber as they make their way across icefields, up frosted peaks, through dark caves and over treacherous pitfalls! Help them survive mysterious hazards and overcome brain-teasing obstacles that span 40 unique levels.
0 Degrees is an icy platformer made in the Unity engine. In it, there are forty different single-screen levels of escalating complexity you must traverse from stage’s entry to the exit portal. The gameplay is pretty straightforward as you must platform and create ice blocks in places that will help you complete the levels. The number of ice blocks is limited, so there is also a puzzle solving aspect to the game. You must also avoid hazards like spikes, because you will restart the level once hitting them. In some of the levels you will also need to activate the exit portal by collecting a glowing gem, or use an ice block to trigger various switches. That is pretty much it. The graphics are simple and wintry, and the background music is kind of boring and repetitive. With some skill, you will fly through the whole game in about thirty to forty minutes, and there is no real replay value to 0 Degrees, unless you want to beat your best times in each level. The game costs 4,99 € on the PlayStation Store and if nothing else, it is a pretty easy platinum trophy for all of you trophy hunters out there.
